Nomination Information 

“The Washington High School Hall of Fame seeks to honor Alumni that have exemplified the ideals of the school throughout their lives and have actively made a difference in their respective professions and communities. They represent the richness of tradition that is the very core of Washington High School. The WHS Hall of Fame was created in 2014 by the Associated Student Body (ASB) and the Alumni Foundation to celebrate alumni, staff and community supporters.”

The next deadline for nominations is October 30, 2025

Nomination Criteria

  • Nominees may not be a student, educator or staff member at the time of induction and should have either graduated from WHS at least twenty (20) years prior to nomination or separated from service at the school at least five (5) years prior to nomination.

  • Nominees must have a commendable record of service and exemplary behavior since graduation or prior service.

  • Nominees may be nominated and inducted posthumously.

  • Nominees or their representative must accept the nomination.

  • Upon acceptance, nominees or their representative must be willing to participate in the induction ceremonies.

  • All nominations must be submitted on the official nomination form.

Nomination Process

  • Review the Nomination Categories.

  • Complete the Nomination Form.

  • Submit essay and other supporting materials with Nomination Form (print below).

    • Attach an essay explaining why this candidate deserves consideration for nomination to the Hall of Fame. In your essay, highlight the candidate's major accomplishments, awards or recognitions.

    • Letters of support from other people providing additional information or endorsing the nomination.

    • Where applicable, include links to published articles, retrospect of nominee’s works, other supporting documents, videos and anything else that illustrates this candidate’s accomplishments.

    • Please include a single photograph of the nominee. Please submit as a jpeg.

  • Submit completed nomination package with supporting documents, attachment and ​picture to either of the following.

Hall of Fame Nomination Categories

The submission of a name for consideration will be made in one of the following categories.

Education                                                                                                                                      

Nominees should exemplify high standards and a strong commitment to fostering student success. Teachers demonstrate this through a career of delivering innovative and engaging lessons that prepare students for future achievements. Instructional support staff, including administrators, counselors, custodial, and clerical personnel, may showcase their dedication by providing outstanding service to support and guide students throughout their educational journey while ensuring a safe and clean campus environment.

Medicine and Science                                                                                                        

Nominees, through practice and/or research, may include but are not limited to nurses, specialists, and/or general practitioners of high regard or distinction, scientists who have benefitted humanity in important areas or who have added substantially to the body of human knowledge, or are recipients of distinguished awards in any field of scientific endeavor.

Business and Professional                                                                                             

Nominees who are highly respected and accomplished individuals in fields such as engineering, finance, law, manufacturing, real estate, public service, healthcare, management, family businesses, and technology.  This recognition also celebrates those who have achieved success through remarkable entrepreneurial skills.

Arts and Entertainment                                                                        

Nominees, who are well-known or frequently published writers; winners of prestigious literary accomplishments, have won illustration, acting or artistic awards; influential critics; recognized musicians or composers; media celebrities.

Humanitarian Service                                                                                                        

Nominees who have rendered consistent and significant service to people in the regional, state, national, or global communities through governmental careers, philanthropic organizations, advocacy groups, or volunteerism.

Athletics                                                                                                                                         

Nominees who are all-Americans, Olympians, or all-star professional athletes; renowned or especially successful championship coaches, sports specialists, sports promoters or school program supporters.

Lifetime Recognition                                                                                                            

Nominees in this category are individuals whose lives, service, philanthropy, or work in support of Washington High School or its alumni communities showcase exceptional dedication and generosity. Their contributions significantly enrich the school and advance the mission and goals of the Alumni Foundation.
