135th Anniversary Celebration and WHS Hall of Fame Induction
April 25, 2026
A legacy of excellence in education was born in Fremont, California when the founders of Washington Township formally declared the need for a high school in 1891. Originally opened as Union High School District #2, it was later renamed Washington High School and has now grown to become the 5th oldest high school in the Bay Area and the 15th oldest in California.
As we approach 135 years of Husky pride and excellence (1891-2026), we are planning an anniversary celebration. We will honor outstanding graduates with Hall of Fame recognition and celebrate the generations of students who have shaped Washington High School’s enduring legacy. About the WHS Alumni Foundation
Established in 1990, the WHS Alumni Foundation's first objective was to save the historic arch from the original main building. After the completion of that task, the Foundation directed its efforts towards funding scholarships for today's students and helping support student and campus activities.

Since its beginning, the Foundation has awarded over $150,000 in college scholarships to graduating students, including 16 scholarships totaling $11,000 to the Class of 2024! Since 2016, the Foundation has awarded $9,000 in Classroom Grants to support the WHS staff and their educational efforts on behalf of the students.
